blossom kite festival

Formerly known as 'The Smithsonian Kite Festival, The Blossom Kite Festival is held annually on the National Mall. We didn't know about it in advance so it was a pleasant surprise to stumble onto the festivities en route to the Lincoln Memorial. I'll take any excuse to listen to songs from Mary Poppins (they had this on repeat). - Mina

    I visited DC the week after you were there (it seems) and heard from a friend about how I had just missed the Kite Festival. I was so disappointed because it sounded just fantastic. I'm glad I got to see such stunning photos from it!

    that's so funny because i attended a kite festival around the same time & i had the exact same thought about mary poppins too. i actually sang the song "let's go fly a kite" out loud while i was there.
