street performers

Street performers. They hide their true lives behind masks or costumes, and do their best to creatively spread happiness in the world. Or, they're too lazy to get an office job. Whatever their motivation, these entertainers deserve credit for having given us a few minutes of intrigue, amazement, or mere distraction.

One of our favourite busker experiences was on the metro in Paris a few years ago (apologies for the video quality):

It takes a stone cold heart not to love a Wooly Bully puppet show.

  1. While I was traveling in Spain in August 09, I saw an amazing dance troupe performing on the street during the San Sebastian festival. They were talented, but I think most of the ladies were hanging around to watch the GORGEOUS French dancer (who insisted on going shirtless the whole time). Almost a year later I saw the same dance troupe on the steps leading up to Sacre Coeur in Paris! His shirt was on this time, but the ladies were still in a trance. I couldn't believe it. I guess some street performers travel all over depending on the seasons. Cool.

  3. I always wonder if they make enough performing, or maybe they work somewhere else. The Michael Jackson impersonator is pretty good, too.

  4. i remember when i was in LA a few years ago, I saw a puss in boots and a fiona sitting down at a fast food joint for a quick bite to eat. i loved it!

now, a random little layout question. how did you get that follow button on the side? i have little buttons on top and i would really like to have a follow button there. i didn't see anyway to put the follow widget on a new page, so i copied the link of what comes up when you click "follow" and then attached it to a picture on my new page. it worked for a day, and then i guess the link expired. i don't know if this makes any sense to me, but if you could share with me how you did it, i would be o-so-thankful!

i've been loving the new york posts, but i'm also interested where you guys are at right now... you had come back to winnipeg for the summer (i'm sad we weren't able to go out for some indian! i was in turkey! next time you're home please?) - are you off globe trotting again?

phew long comment! hope you two are doing well!

  8. I love the street performers! I really respect them, cause not everyone would have guts to go and perform by themselves in front of so many people :)
Besides they really do make me smile :)
