ricky gervais

When we heard that we could see Ricky Gervais at the Madison Square Garden Theater, we were all over it. Like most people, we found out about Ricky Gervais years ago when we watched BBC's The Office (the only good Office!!) The series continues to be one of our favorite shows.

Here's a snapshot from his set in NYC, of Mr. Gervais pointing out two (apparently) gay dolphins mating:

We had already seen this bit in the Animals special he did. It's kind of lame that he reused some material, but there was a lot of new stuff and we laughed again at the old jokes, so, no harm done. If you're curious about what he was talking about in the above photo, you can watch the bit here (if you're sensitive to vulgar comedy, or at work, you should probably skip clicking the link).

We know we've mentioned his podcasts before, but if you haven't listened to them you should. If you have, then you're familiar with his buddy, Karl Pilkington. We're pretty excited about seeing their upcoming project, where Karl goes to see the 7 wonders of the world:

...AND the book, An Idiot Abroad: The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington, comes out today! We're sure it will be an amusing read.

Oh yeah, and we sat near Zach Galifianakis at the show, no big deal.

  1. Now I feel better about those times that Rachel Slough was your mother. Slough, like the dreary town south of London where the Office takes place. After Madrid,I need to move to Boston, so I can see all the cool shows in NY and visit Montreal.

  2. While I agree with you on the superiority of the original UK Office, I do recall you guys owning (and then subsequently trying to sell at a garage sale) a couple of seasons of the crappy American version.

    Ha!

  4. Rachel yes! boston sounds like a great plan. i hope you don't actually feel bad about rachel slough being my mother. i met a real person from slough the other day, who hadn't seen the show. i thought it was a shame, but we were able to discuss the poem by, poet laureate, sir john betjeman because of it. i felt like a scholarly fraud!

Space Astronomy JUST season one!! it was a terrible mistake, in hindsight only, as the first season wasn't that bad.

  5. that is a really cute picture of you both with Zach Galifianakis. My boyfriend LOVES him. all Zach has to do is open his mouth and say something and Andre is laughing hysterically. It's quite contagious lol.

  9. i love the Ricky!!! And oh, i love Karl P also. Read his first (?) book, Happy slapped by a Jellyfish...and it was hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing! It was like watching a stand-up comedy...but reading it. And it works - who would have thought reading comedy was such fun!?!?
