On the day we went to the Trotsky Museum, we also walked over to Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera's old home.
It was a very colourful walk.
It was a very colourful walk.
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera lived in her family home together. People refer to it as 'the blue house' and it now showcases her many works of art. Several of the rooms are also preserved. The painting room appears as if she just stepped away from it - all of her paints and brushes are laying on a desk. There are also several 'unfinished' works of art displayed in the home. These were interesting to see as it allows you to get a sense of her process.
While walking through the museum you truly get a sense of Frida and Diego's cultural and political contributions to Mexico (they hosted Leon Trotsky before a falling out led to him moving a few blocks away).
We left Mexico City last week and have spent the past few days in Oaxaca, Mexico. We're starting to plan our voyage into Central America and welcome any recommendations or suggestions!

ReplyDeleteGreat job on that first photograph. It looks really cute! I think it's great you were able to see where Frida lived. I don't know much about her but I did love the movie with Salma Hayek.
