I've had the additional misfortune of having my credit card skimmed (sometime before arriving here), although, it seems my card was deactivated before any real damage was done. Mina is on the path to recovery though, so I expect that we'll check out some of the sights and sounds of Toronto this week. - Alex
my kind of razzmatazz • 17 comments • Did we say the drive to Fargo was bad? We arrived in Chicago around midnight, after a snowy drive, and checked into the hotel to sleep. The next day was filled with clowning around at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago-style hot dogs, chili fries, too much dessert, and some Frankenstein at the Daley Plaza We took the requisite tourist photos at the bean: Apparently, fine establishments will not offer ketchup with your Chicago-style hot dog as the sugar in the ketchup over-powers the flavor of the dog. How pretentious & delicious. We got some cheap dessert. Evidently, cheap does not necessarily mean small in the States. The ice cream sandwich I ordered was the size of my face. Our Hallowe'en night ended with some Frankenstein in Daley Plaza. My kind of town, Chicago is.
step on the gas and wipe that tear away • 17 comments • Once we left our house, we drove around the city to tie up loose ends. We signed our wills, added items to the safety deposit box (bye wedding rings), and picked up some international driver's licenses. We're on our way to Toronto (via Chicago) right now! We can't believe this is actually happening! We left Winnipeg in the early evening and battled rain and construction on the highway to stop for the night in Fargo, ND (yeah!)It's so exciting here:We're going to go hop in the hotel pool tonight and take off early tomorrow morning to get out of here. 10 hours on the road tomorrow 'til Chicago!
