Red Sand Beach of Kaihalulu Bay | Maui

Red Sand Beach // Kaihalulu Beach

The hike to the Red Sand Beach of Kaihalulu Bay, near Hana, is short but unconventional. A dirt path on private property brings you to a very narrow ridge, which leads you around a point, to the bay. The red volcanic rock/sand of the bay stands in vivid contrast to the almost comically blue water. We visited on an overcast day when the waves were loud and big.

This was our final destination on our Road to Hana trip. We didn't want to drive the winding road back in the dark, so we marveled that this place even exists one more time before heading back to Kihei.
