Mexico City Part III

mexico city

On our last day in Mexico City, we just walked around the Condesa and Roma neighbourhoods. We stopped in different parks and cafes. It was the perfect way to spend our final day there. I had no clue that Alex had a surprise planned for me that evening.

We walked through the same dog park where we saw those puppy parties nearly 5 years ago. It seems like nothing has changed. There was no dog piñata this time, but there was still the same obedience training and dogs chasing each other through fountains.

For lunch, we stopped at a recommendation from one of our friends (who works at the B&B we stayed at): Cafe Toscano. I feel embarrassed to share that we had pizza and tomato soup, but you can't have Mexican food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day. Well, you can but we've been spoiled by variety.

We continued through the Roma neighbourhood, stopping briefly for a snack at La Procedencia, a fun cafe / fair trade store:

A lot of people asked us whether we felt safe in Mexico City. The first time we visited, we were too paranoid to even take out our cheap point and shoot camera, but this time we felt comfortable with a bulky SLR in hand. The parks are beautiful and the people are so friendly. I hope we get to go back soon because this place has so much to offer. - Mina

  2. I think I could totally eat Mexican food all day every day, but I've been living in Europe too long and there is NO good Mexican food here and plenty of good pizza, so I can't really judge :P Also I love your black and white pleated skirt - may I ask where it is from? I've been looking for one forever and can't seem to find a good one!

  3. I was going to ask if you guys felt safe. I missed Mexico City when I was in Mexico, my brother and his Mexican wife wouldn't let me go for fear of my safety! I should have gone anyway!!

  4. Isa Thanks! I bought it at some outlet store in SLO, California. I think I saw a similar skirt at Banana Republic recently. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

  5. Margret I think it's like any other city, you can always find a bad neighbourhood. I've felt more nervous in certain areas of Montreal at night than I ever did in DF.
