on each other's team

I feel awful when I neglect this space, and want to thank everyone who sent us sweet notes about being reunited. I thought that only we would think it was a big deal, because we were fortunate enough to fly back and forth nearly every other month while apart. I didn't want to seem whiny about the distance when it's hardly a real problem... but feeling lonely is never fun. For the last several months in Montreal, I was working hard, from the moment I woke up to the moment I fell asleep, and was driving myself crazy.

A lot of people say "everything happens for a reason". It's not a mantra I've ever subscribed to because it hardly seems rational. Although, the headaches and heartaches we've dealt with have seem to have caused a domino effect where everything suddenly fell into place in a way far better than we could have ever imagined. I tend to feel very guilty when good fortune comes my way so I'm trying my best to embrace and enjoy these nearly perfect days.

We started dating 10 years ago this week. 10 years! It's perplexing how so many things can change and two people can grow together and remain best friends for so long. I'm glad to have a teammate in this crazy life.

The photo above is from Mexico City in 2009, one of the first places we visited on our honeymoon. We decided to meet there for my birthday, back in January. I have a bunch of images from Mexico, around San Francisco, and we're headed back to New York this month! I'm hoping that I can find time to share some of the photos and experiences with you soon. Thanks for sticking around, pals. - Mina

  11. Love this post. And I've loved reading about you two and your life together. I haven't had to deal with being separated from my husband yet (although it will happen in the future, I'm sure), but it just seems so, so hard to me. So I commend you! I'm glad you're back together again and congrats on the ten years!
