bullfighting

After much debate, we decided against checking out the bullfighting museum that was located within the bullfighting ring in Malaga.  People in Spain, and many other countries, regard the spectacle as a fine art. Typically, we love visiting museums, but thought that it might just make us feel like we felt at the end of our shark cage diving experience, so we skipped it. We may have missed out on an important part of the culture, but we did take some shots of the ring from afar and that was good enough for us.

  1. I totally agree, I just can't get down with bull fighting. I know it's a part of the Spanish culture, but I just have to stick to my ethical guns on this one. My boyfriend went to a bull fight in Madrid and completely regretted it.

Amazing pictures, though! You guys are getting good!

  2. I'm glad you guys didn't end up seeing a bullfight, it is such a horrendous sport. The Catalan parts of Spain have actually voted to ban it come 2012.

  3. We went to an actual bullfighting match in Spain. My husband wanted to go, so I agreed to go with him. Can't say I'm a fan, but I knew that going in.

I love these pictures. How did you get them to be so clear? And how did you get the ring to almost look like it is part of a miniature display? I'm figuring something with depth of field maybe?

  4. I went to see another kind of bullfighting when I was in les Arennes (France) where the bullfighters just try and grab ribbons off the horns of the bulls. You have to be in great shape, and the bulls don't get hurt! It was very interesting.

  5. You guys are getting better with the camera!

I felt bad last time I was at the circus (haha), so I understand why you didn't want to go. How did you get such good shots of the arena from above?

  8. Lovely shots of the ring. Looks almost like a toy. I can't stomach bullfighting either, so I don't thin we'll ever be doing it.

  10. Definitely a good call to skip anything bullfighting related. I studied abroad in Valencia and we had to go to a match for class, and it still makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it.

On a happier note, these pictures are awesome!

  15. Amy - A little lens blur on the background/foreground makes your eye focus on the subject. Contrast, adjusting the hue/saturation, and brightness help too.

Brenna - That sounds kind of interesting, we'll have to look into that.

Julia and Yuriy - Thanks. We climbed a hill to get the shots from above.

emily - We're not judging anyone, just documenting why we chose not to.

Thanks for the kind words about the photos you guys!
