things we'll miss - home cooked meals
• 24 comments •While traveling, we'll likely be eating out a lot. Not only because we'd like to try different restaurants, but also because it can be more cost effective at times as well as convenient when we don't have the necessary appliances/utensils. We decided to attempt making pizza at home the other night...
We both like a saucy pizza. When we make it at home we don't skimp.
We've heard the pizza in Naples is amazing and are looking forward to having a slice or two (or ten) in Italy. Do you guys have any good pizza pie recommendations?

YES! You'll miss homecooked meals. But you'll appreciate them so much more when you return!
ReplyDeleteyummy!! that looks delish. i want that recipe. cute pictures, as always!!
ReplyDeleteMarkets are a good way to save money, too. Gives you a local taste, and the food is usually fresh.
ReplyDeleteHome-made pizza is such a great and inexpensive treat. Love the photobooth shot at the end, and your make in the other picture! :)
ReplyDelete*whoops, I meant "makeup"
ReplyDeletemmm... looks delicious. I love lots of sauce and fresh tomatoes on my pizza.
ReplyDeleteIn Italy is you order a "pepperoni" pizza be prepared to get green pepper on it - that's the translation into english for them! Ernest made that mistake several times!
ReplyDeleteI miss homemade food so much. Also the big dilema while on the road is picking the restaurant. Now multiply this by 3 and then by 365 days. That is a lot of choices.
ReplyDeleteWe do try to cook with whatever things we can use from the hostels which can be very tricky!
Enjoy the pizza while you can.
If you are heading to Italy there will be so much wonderful food! If you make it to the small island of Salina, I highly recommend Mama Santina. We stayed there and loved the accommodations and the restaurant. I don't think we ate anything we didn't like, but we were especially fond of the Spaghetti con Vongole. The granitas near the Santa Marina harbor were also fantastic! This is the island where the film Il Postino was filmed.
ReplyDeleteexcuse me miss but your header is the awesome one. also, i think i'm kind of jealous of the journey you two are about to go on. mayyybe just a little bit.

PS thank you so much for the Egypt tips - very useful to know! We've been warned about the scams too and will definitely be cautious and stay safe. We're not planning on going to Luxor - we'd have loved to, but decided on just Cairo and Sharm-El-Shaikh.

As a fellow travel addict, I stumbled across your blog, and normally wouldn't add a note but when someone asks for the best pizza place in Naples, I can't resist.
ReplyDeleteIn Naples, Italy for pizza: Pizzeria da Michele (you'll have to google the location). It is worth it - I promise. Order the margherita and enjoy.
Also, if you go to Capri (which you should), eat at the Ciro a Mare at the Marina Piccola. Get the bruschetta. You won't be disappointed.
Oh my gosh!! I am so incredibly jealous! I need to take the kind of leap you guys are! THAT is REALLY living life! Bravo, my friend! You are living a life WELL lived!

ReplyDeleteThat pizza looks delicious. And I've heard great things about pizza in Naples, too...unfortunately I've never been there but in Eat, Pray Love (the book), the author talks about the ah-mazing pizza in Italy...
I've discovered your blog today and i'm reading it from the beginnin. If you even been in Italy yet and you're still waiting for your pizza just make sure, when you get here in Italy, that is is made in a wood oven=forno a legna!
ReplyDeleteCiao from Italy! Tamara
