the lion king • 14 comments • After going on our first safari, we couldn't stop talking about it. When we were at Kruger National Park, we probably sang songs from The Lion King more than we'd like to admit. There were so many shows we wanted to see, but the tickets are pretty pricey and the Disney classic turned Broadway musical seemed like the one we'd enjoy the most. In addition to to being one of the best Disney movies, the show was directed by Julie Taymor who we are fans of for her psychedelic visual artistry in Across The Universe. To see similar costumes, puppetry, and set design in person was such an incredible thrill. The photos we took are from inside the Minskoff Theatre - with all the red carpets and gold accents, it's really a stunning place.
